KIDS RULE !!!

'Families that fish together Stay Together'

Story of the day: A fishy story from the skipper, my father taught me how to fish.

We woke in the dark, stowed rods and tackle box in the ute tray and drove with hushed excitement across the sleeping city to its edge, the water.

The adventure was novel for us. Casting lines in milky dawn light – Just me and my boy.

Preparing the gear on a Saturday night, threading hooks under lamplight, wetting line with saliva and pulling knots tight with my teeth, I was plunged

back to my childhood. I wagged school to go fishing. Walked through mountains to fish. Caught trains to country towns, then lifts with farmers, to

find a riverʼs reach with the hope of catching a fish. My father taught me how to fish.  I learnt about landscape, the natural world,

about the grace of dawn, the art of waiting, about sometimes returning empty-handed, and about cold. I learnt also about fatherhood.

Scattering Ashes - The Law

The scattering of ash law is very relaxed in Australia. While there are certain rules and guidelines .

Firstly the laws and regulations about scattering ash. In Australia ash is considered "inert" (or non-infectious) and thus safe to be handled

by most people. According to the rules one of three things can be done with the ash by whomever picks it up:

Buried in a cemetery in a small plot or placement in columbarium or niche wall.

Preserved in a decorative urn and kept at home or some other favourite spot.

Scattered on private land, beach, river, public parks and sea or at a place that was significant to the deceased and families.
